Hey Everybody!
I am writing today because today is my Pday. Sorry if you were all waiting for yesterday, because I forgot to let my mom know... but oh well! Yesterday was a holiday here in Chile for some Naval Battle that happened a long time ago... so we had a Pday changed from yesterday to today. So, yeah!
First off, this last week was super cold! It just seems to keep getting colder and colder here everyday. And it isnt the funnest when the people dont want to listen to the gospel so we get to be outside for the whole day just trying anything to share this message with the people here. Although it is cold, my desires to help the people are burning. And a scarf and jacket always help too to keep me warm! Although we havnt had a lot of oportunities to teach lately, we are finding a lot of people that might have interest in the gospel, so we need to go talk to all of these people again with the hope that they really are wanting to hear the gospel. Supposedly there is a change in how the things here in our mission and in all of the missions of Chile are going to have... we are going to put our focus in finding and teaching families!... I always thought that that was the idea of the gospel, because if we want to live with our families forever, we had better teach families! Unfortunately this hasnt been happening a lot in Chile so the area presidents are trying to change the things and also our mission president, which is really great! But of course if we find someone who doesnt have a family we are going to be teaching them too! But when there is a family we are going to try our very best to help the whole family, not only a few members of the families. So! That is that!
Anyways, with so many people that dont want to listen to us or even talk to us for more than a few seconds, we are trying to contact the people in different ways. Wish us luck, because it seems like the cold is making the people more cold here. We almost watched a church video with a man from China... that would have been very interesting... haha. Speaking of interesting, there are many people very interesting here in Llaima. This Sector is definitely preparing me for so much after this sector, because here I have talked with everyone with every single belief possible... and just when I think that there cant be anything different, I talk with someone who believes in something completely different. It is definitely quite an adventure. But like I said, we are trying to find new people to teach... and luckily the ward is having a bunch of activities this week for Ward Conference, so we are hoping that some investigators or people who dont know the church can go to these activities.
Today we finally tried to do something different for our Pday... we went to a Volcano to play in the snow as a Zone... the thing is is that it wasnt planned very well and we all used a bunch of money to go to the snow and our guide in the end didnt want to.... sigh... I was super excited and looking forward to it. So we basically took a day hike and wasted a lot of money, but it was still fun. We were so close to the snow too... most of us were quite disappointed, and we made the most of our experience and had the most fun we possibly could. Our guide was a nature lover.... like a tree hugger to say the least. How fun that people like him exist here in Chile also! I would have never thought that! Haha, you learn something new everyday!
Well, I hope we can actually play in the snow one day here in Chile, I would love that! Anyways, that is pretty much all! I love you all so much! Congrats that you graduated Seminary and that you are graduating High School my little Sister Keeley! Best of luck and best wishes to you! Congrats! I love you all so much and miss you all, but I know this is a grand work of the Lord and I am thankful for the experiences I have and the people I can help.... because this gospel can bless everyone who wants to recieve it! I know this time will bless me in my life in the future too! I love you too Caralyn! You are beautiful! Take care everyone! Well, until next week! Enjoy the pictures!
Con mucho amor,
Elder Garrett
